You don't need a CTO yet. You need what a CTO does.

For 25 years I've turned ideas into shipped software for non-technical partners. Now, paired with AI-orchestrated execution, I deliver team-scale output from a single senior-level engagement. The pace of a team. Without having to build one.

Most fractional CTOs are ex-engineers. I'm a technical co-founder who's lived it from pitch to production. Most recently: CTO of a healthcare startup, building a production-grade MVP with a two-person team in under six months.

Who I work with

I work best with non-technical founders at the seed stage who need a senior technical partner to turn an idea into a real product.

I'm especially strong with healthcare founders, where the regulatory, data, and multi-tenant architecture decisions made in the first six months define what you can ship for the next three years.

The seed stage is where the wrong technical calls can cost you the company. The wrong co-founder. The wrong stack. The wrong first hire. Each one eats runway you don't have.

If you're looking for someone to just "write code," I'm not the right fit.

If you need someone to think, design, lead, and ship alongside you, let's talk.

What I do

I become your technical co-founder for the stretch of runway where you need one most. One senior partner. One engagement. No team to hire.

  1. 01 Strategy

    Architecture and technical strategy

I design the product's foundation for where you're going, not just where you are. The right stack, the right infrastructure, the right tradeoffs between speed and scale. The calls that are expensive to reverse later, made correctly the first time.

  2. 02 Delivery

    Hands-on delivery with AI orchestration

I don't just advise. I build. My workflow pairs senior engineering judgment with agentic coding tools to move at a speed a traditional team can't match. A timeline that wasn't possible two years ago.

  3. 03 Translation

    Founder translation

Every technical decision explained in plain English, tied back to why you're building this. You always know what's being built, why, and what it costs you if we change direction.

  4. 04 Leadership

Technical leadership across the delivery team

If you have (or hire) a developer, I lead them. Oversight, mentorship, architectural direction. And if there's a designer or product person in the mix, I can run the entire delivery team. The result: a product that deploys at the same bar, not just the parts I touch.

Why founders bring me in
01

Senior Solutions Architect judgment

25 years designing complex systems for businesses at every scale, from zero-to-one startups to enterprise platforms. The experience to know what to build, what not to build, and where the expensive mistakes are made.

02

AI-orchestrated execution

Fluent in agentic coding and AI-first development workflows. This is a fundamentally different way of shipping software. It isn't "I use Copilot sometimes." It's a multiplier. One senior partner delivers what used to take a small team. A small senior-led team outperforms a bigger one.

03

Business-to-engineering translator

I've spent my career at the seam between founders with ideas and the engineering work that turns them into products. That's why you won't need to translate for me, and why I won't disappear behind jargon.

04

One engagement, whatever the shape of your team

You get CTO-grade decision-making and hands-on delivery in a single engagement, for less than the cost of two mid-level engineers, with none of the overhead of hiring, managing, or onboarding.

Engagement
Cadence

We meet weekly for a working session, cameras on, agenda driven by what's actually in play. In between, we're in regular async contact on whatever channel you prefer.

The first week is a technical deep-dive: your product, your current state, your runway, your goals. By week two we have a plan and we're executing.

Commitment

Most engagements run three months minimum, month-to-month after that. Three months is long enough to get past discovery, make the architectural calls, and ship something real.

You get my attention in business hours, not a 48-hour ticket queue. I make the technical calls. You make the business calls. Anything that crosses over, cost, timeline, or product direction, we decide together.

Ready to build?

The fastest way to know if we're a fit is a 30-minute call.

No pitch, no pressure. Tell me what you're building. I'll tell you honestly what I think, and whether I'm the right partner for you.

Signal, not noise. Let's see what we can build.
